redwood highway. this is how CA welcomed us. a highway lined with redwoods
it was amazing that the weather was so clear as we drove to the coast! must be a good omen
first river trip! the weather inland had not been that warm but we just could not wait.
our new place! it is a mother-in-law units behind a house in the sunny brae neighborhood. this is our picture window that looks out to arcata bay. AND they take cats!!
here is more of a side view and our little front fence
this is our cute side yard. we love it. it is half in the forest and the other half is terraced. we have been busy planting veggies and flowers. behind the yard is more forest with a local fox and raccoon.
yellow flowering tree outside our fence
for all that will not be able to ACTUALLY visit us, i will give a virtual tour. pretty dorky, i know, but we will start with the bedroom
the bathroom is off the room and the french doors lead to the living room with the windows!
the living room! it is so weird 'cause it is shaped like an octagon with a high, pitched ceiling. the people before us painted it lavendar and baby blue which both make me want to puke, but whatev's...
on to the kitchen and front door
kitchen time, yeah! it is much bigger than our madison apt. so we are so excited to cook and hopefully have people over. when we actually meet people, hee hee
river again! this is the van duzen river. we got to spend the fourth of july with my friend josh and he invited us to this house party on the river. this is in the lady's backyard! it was amazing! she had acres of fruit trees and natives and ornamentals, wow!
here is my cute white chicken legs climbing up to see a waterfall that is near her house.
climbing to the waterfall, there was an amazing view of an old car from the 40's/50's wedged into a tree from a massive flood that occurred in the 50's!
the ever-present banana slug. lookin' pretty cool, but eatin' all the veggies!
the day after july 4th, josh, isaiah and i headed to ruth lake. we weren't sure if the fires were affecting the area and it turned out to be a great decision i had never been there and the lake and campsite was so nice.
here is my love taking a well-deserved break in the tent. the weather was warm and relaxing. great weekend.
and one more of josh and i.
so there is the first edition. keep posted for more info ’cause there is a lot to tell about what is REALLY happening like with our jobs and all of that action. miss all of you and thanks for viewing yo’s!
